Riding the bus, train or ferry can be a cost-effective and convenient means of alternative transportation. Below are some tips that may help make your experience a positive one.
Travel by Bus
- Know the location of the nearest bus stop
- Determine if you will take multiple routes
- Get to know the schedule, and how closely connections match your destinations
- Find out if your bus allows bikes. Riding a bike to and from bus stops can make your travel more time-efficient and further reduce dependency on your car
- Learn about fares and when to pay (buy tickets/tokens beforehand vs. pay onboard)
- Determine if you can purchase weekly/monthly passes at a discount
- Learn how you should request your stop
- Check the destination sign before getting on a bus
- Create a Plan B in case you miss your bus

Travel by Train
